JaneyTheGreat on Being Deserving:
Sometimes you just need to believe you deserve everything you want. No person can or should change your feelings towards what you truly deserve. People will tell you that you will get what you deserve if you try hard enough. Sorry folks, that’s not going to do. It is simply not true. Just because you deserve something, doesn’t mean you’ll get it, and that’s the hard fact of life for you.
Let me give you an example: if you think you deserve to be a millionaire, then don’t become one. Your family may have struggled all of your life and you may know that you truly deserve to not struggle anymore, but that doesn’t mean you will become rich. Sometimes even deserving something, no matter how good of a person you are, it still won’t happen for you.
Same with love. Everyone says there’s someone for everyone, but it is simply not true. If there was someone for everyone, everyone would have successful relationships and be married. There would be no single or divorced people. There would be no such things as single parents. Sometimes, there really is no person who will stick with you the rest of your life, and that is a tough pill to swallow. You can try to find someone and have all the positive energy but sometimes it’s just not going to get there.
To deserve something is one aspect to think about but to get there is another task. Another point would be that a child/anyone you are close to doesn’t deserve to get sick or die. They deserve a good life, one without pain. They can be the best person in the world but simply deserving health isn’t enough, it just isn’t. That’s not the way the world works. It is not a fair world and we’d be living very differently if solely being deserving counts for something.
The unfairness and cruelty the world displays many times is concerning. Sometimes you have to wonder “why” you aren’t living the life you deserve. Sometimes, it isn’t your fault. Maybe you are trying to change your life or you're looking for someone or something to make it better, yet you just can’t. So here lies the inevitable question: Do you ever get what you deserve?
